Invest in the future of you

“I often think of the people who give me support and guidance at the low points in my life. In the next 10 years, I hope I will become a person who can give support and guidance to others, be an inspiration and influence to the next generation of young musicians. I wish to share the experiences of my musical journey and give back to society. I wish to help young children who are just as passionate about music as me.”

Ching-Yun Hu, excerpts from China Times
“Taiwan Power 100 – A Letter to Myself in Ten Years' Time” May, 2011

About the Festival…

The classical music podium in Taiwan has always had the possibility of inviting world-class musicians and orchestras to perform in various concert halls and music festivals in Taiwan. However, after these exciting and exuberant performances, there remains a gap between the world-class music masters and the young aspiring musicians for the next generation. To give young artists a chance to work and interact closely with established music masters in master classes, conversations, and informal gatherings, and to lead young artists on their path to a professional career in performing is the goal and purpose of The Yun-Hsiang International Music Festival.

For the first edition of The Yun-Hsiang International Music Festival, Ching-Yun Hu, artistic director of Yun-Hsiang Foundation which hosts the festival, award winner and famed concert pianist in her country and abroad, invited world-class cellist, Adrian Brendel, violinist, Grzegorz Kotow, and her long time mentor, Sergei Babayan, to give masterclasses and perform concerts together with the Evergreen Symphony Orchestra in Taiwan. In order to prepare young artists on their musical paths, Ching-Yun Hu emphasizes the importance of concerto playing by including a concerto competition within the festival. The chosen young artists will have a chance to learn closely with festival guest artists in masterclasses, compete in the concerto competition, and have the opportunity to win and perform a concerto on the same stage with all festival guest artists and the Evergreen Symphony Orchestra in a prestigious concert hall in Taipei. The Yun-Hsiang International Music Festival hopes to create inspiration, opportunity, and identify Taiwan’s next classical music star.
