Invest in the future of you

“I often think of the people who give me support and guidance at the low points in my life. In the next 10 years, I hope I will become a person who can give support and guidance to others, be an inspiration and influence to the next generation of young musicians. I wish to share the experiences of my musical journey and give back to society. I wish to help young children who are just as passionate about music as me.”

Ching-Yun Hu, excerpts from China Times
“Taiwan Power 100 – A Letter to Myself in Ten Years' Time” May, 2011

About the Festival…

The classical music podium in Taiwan has always had the possibility of inviting world-class musicians and orchestras to perform in various concert halls and music festivals in Taiwan. However, after these exciting and exuberant performances, there remains a gap between the world-class music masters and the young aspiring musicians for the next generation. To give young artists a chance to work and interact closely with established music masters in master classes, conversations, and informal gatherings, and to lead young artists on their path to a professional career in performing is the goal and purpose of The Yun-Hsiang International Music Festival.

After the success of the First Edition of The Yun-Hsiang International Music Festival, the 2nd Edition will be held in Taipei from November 14 and December 25, 2014. For the 2nd Edition of the Festival, artistic director Ching-Yun Hu invites world class artists such as Ricardo Morales (principle clarinetist of the Philadelphia Orchestra), Idith Zvi (artistic director of Arthur Rubinstein International Music Society and Competition in Tel Aviv), William Wei-Ling Chen (principle clarinetist of the Taipei Symphony Orchestra), famed Chinese conductor Xincao Li (music director of Busan Philharmonic Orchestra and resident conductor of China Philharmonic Orchestra), the Evergreen Symphony Orchestra, as well as renown Taiwanese violinist Shien-Ta Su and cellist Chu-Chuan Liu to perform in a series of festival concerts that range from solo recital, chamber music performances to a concerto concert.

Following the excitement of the young artists participation at the 2012 Yun-Hsiang International Music Festival, the 2014 Festival will once again host a series of events dedicated to promoting young Taiwanese musicians. The events will include masterclasses with festival guest artists, the Yun-Hsiang Concerto competition and the Rising Star Concert. The purpose of these events is to give opportunities to young Taiwanese musicians by providing first class education and a professional concert stage where they can exhibit their talent. The First Prize winners of the Yun-Hsiang Concerto Competition will go on to perform along side festival guest artists and Evergreen Symphony Orchestra in the "Concerto Night Concert" at the prestigious National Concert Hall of Taipei, a great honor and opportunity for any young musician.

Yun-Hsiang International Music Festival aims to bring excellence in music and education to Taiwan from the world. Let the wonderful music continues to touch our hearts!
